This is such a common fault that most dealers keep them in stock all the time. So I have an 2008 Audi A3 with the 2.0T gas engine with around 95200 miles. I don't see the requirement to avoid 'throw away mechanics' when it makes the water temperature management system on the car more future proof.

How weird is that?? FWIW--A3 2.0T FSI warranty extensions cover PCV, intake flapper (listed as intake manifold runner sensor), and intake cam follower (covers high-pressure fuel pump and intake cam damage).
