So it isn't the CCM, back to pointing my finger at the wiring. Did they used to light up but have recently stopped working, and if so have you changed any parts (no matter how small) or got the car serviced recently?? I repaced all the terminal since only one was left, and every thing worked the window the red light and entry light. I haven't investigated in case I disturbed wiring, however I'll take a look at the weekend when I can have a proper look in daylight. So if I messed something with the connector on the front the rear wouldn't work. Also, there is no door chime or anything when the doors are closed. According to Elsawin the footwell lights are all individually switched by the CCM, presumably according to which door is opened. So after a bit of a hiatus from tinkering with the car, I took it to the local VW dealer (Oakville VW) for a oil change etc, and had them look I also checked wiring as far back as 16 pin plug behind trim in passenger footwell.

This is baffling me as the footwell light comes on witch means the control system is seeing the door being opened but the other lights don't come on as well.
