When I turn the key without the belt hooked up, the light on the cluster lights up for ~5 seconds, but no chime. Mine stopped working one day, and I never cared to figure out why. but physically, both are not on the same circuit therefor not working together. The microswitches inside the door lock mechanisms that sense door open, door closed, and key turned either to lock or unlock fail. I dont think I can tap the plastic screen over the dash with enough force to make the speaker move.
I'm suspecting it's the bad beep speaker at the back of the instrument cluster.
