I think I've found a definitive cause for this and a workaround.

If I got rid of the Master page the events worked fine. Turns out we had some vbscript in the header of the Master page file which must have screwed up scripting for Armistice Day Challenge Understanding which string breaks when one pulls on a hanging block from below Encasing a star in a perfect insulator more hot questions question feed default about us I can't understand why the SelectedIndexChanged event won't fire.
